The proud husband of Malavika a popular name in Kannada and Tamil TV – Avinash the agile actor of Kannada cinema was in mood to talk about the probable project his wife taking up soon.

The ‘Devadasi’ Bangalore Nagarathna a highly qualified and with lot of elements for a film making is the cynosure for Malavika Avinash to make a film explains her husband Avinash.

A reformist ‘Bangalore Nagarathna’ book written in English by V Sriram inspired Malavika to take up film direction. A lady with grit and determination was first one to contribute for ‘Thyagaraja Temple’ in Chennai. It is not just that but the ideals of this 70 plus aged woman are so good says Avinash.

Women were not allowed to perform before Thyagaraja’s ‘Samadhi’. She fought for that and ensured that she conducted a parallel (music) festival where only women would perform for Thyagaraja. Men were not. Then she brought everyone together. She built temple for the saint-composer Thyagaraja (in Thiruvaiyaru around his ‘Samadhi’), sacrificing her life. She did not need a public platform. She was already a powerful performer.

Avinash remembers Nagarathna meeting DV Gundappa legendary writer of Kannada literature. I am Nagarathna and became ‘Boga Rathna’ and today I am ‘Roga Rathna’ she says DV Gundappa. For that the legendary writer said you are ‘Thyaga Rathna’! Such quotations are also part of this book on her and it is definitely a wonderful topic for film inspired Malavika.

I don’t have that power to direct a cinema. It is different ball game. I get ideas but directing I have never thought. My wife Malavika has that grit and determination opines Avinash.
